Timothy Provencher

Timothy J. Provencher, 75, of Enfield, loving husband of Barbara (Bourgeoise) Provencher, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2014 at West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Born in Thompsonville, CT, he was the son of the late Edward and Olivia (Patrevita) Provencher. He graduated from Enfield High School in 1957 where he was co-captain of the baseball, basketball and football teams. Tim was a devoted coach of several girls softball and basketball teams, a member of the Enfield Elks Club, and the Grey’s Athletic Club. He was inducted into the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. Tim served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Stanadyne prior to owning his own painting and home improvement company for 20 years. Tim was an avid antique car and truck enthusiast and enjoyed restoring his 1928 Dodge truck. He loved fishing, bowling and playing sports. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and UConn Huskies. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family and friends were blessed to have him in their lives. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him or knew him.Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by his loving family: daughter, Donna Wehr and husband, Peter, of Ellington; son,Timothy Provencher Jr. and wife, Adreanna, of Woodland Hills, CA; daughter, Sandra Jordan and husband, Mark, of Enfield; daughter, Kerry Sweetman and husband, Tim, of Enfield; daughter, Beth Margolius and husband, David, of West Hartford; grandchildren, Robert Wehr, Justin, Parker and Jack Provencher, Emily and Mollie Sweetman and Benjamin Margolius. He is also survived by his siblings, EdwardProvencher Jr., sister-in-law Erline Provencher, Belinda Gaines, Marlene Marek (Raymond), Theodore Provencher (Nancy), Jean Bassett (Robert), Jeris Griffin (John), John Provencher (Geraldine), Glenn Provencher, Debra Sidway (Michael), Gary Provencher (Katherine), and James Provencher (Debra),; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tim was predeased by a brother, Richard Provencher, brother-in-law William Gaines, and sister-in-law Robyn Provencher. His family wishes to thank Grace and the staff at West Hartford Health & Rehabilitation for Tim’s wonderful care. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels to St. Patrick Church for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will be in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday May 1, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Memorial donations may be made to the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame, 39 Circle Dr., Enfield, CT 06082, Attn: Tim Provencher Scholarship Fund.
