Tony Lombardo

Tony J. Lombardo, of Wilbraham, MA and formerly of Enfield, CT and Florida, entered into eternal peace at the age of 82 on Saturday (March 19, 2011) at Mercy Medical Ctr., Springfield, MA. Tony was the beloved husband of Natalie (Bascetta) Lombardo who passed in 1976 after 29 years of marriage. He was born on Oct. 20, 1928 in Hartford, CT a son of the late Vincenzo and Grace (Ciurcina) Lombardo he resided in Enfield for 32 years before moving to Boynton Beach, FL where he resided for 17 years and in Wilbraham, MA for the past 3 ½ years. Tony served his country honorably with the US Navy during WW II. Prior to retiring many years ago he was a mail carrier for the East Hartford, CT Postal Service for 30 years. He was an excellent carpenter and a great drummer. Tony was a wonderful father, who was an excellent role model for his sons, beloved grandfather and great-grandfather leaving many fond memories for his family to cherish. He is survived by his three sons; Richard Lombardo and his fiancée Madeline Kwiatkowski of Wilbraham, MA, Vincent Lombardo and his wife, Kim of Warren, MA and Santo Lombardo and his companion Jillana Springer of Kennebuck, ME, his beloved grandchildren; Heather Lombardo & husband Saverio Mancini, Nicole Lombardo and companion Paul Nothe, Natalie Lombardo, Jessica Lombardo, Jennifer Huss & husband Kevin, Stephanie Lombardo, Kara Lombardo and Allison Lombardo, three great grandchildren; Mason Lombardo and Kaelyn & Kevin Huss, along with many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings; Annie Connerton, Rose LoNigro, Frank, Vic, Johnny, Pasquale, and Carlo Lombardo. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Susan Brooks and her wonderful staff at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive in Agawam, MA for the outstanding care, compassion, respect and love they bestowed upon Tony for the past two years as he dealt with Alzheimer’s. Because of them, Tony was able to spend these final years in a very happy and dignified manner and for that, the family will be eternally grateful. They would also like to thank Dr. Shawn Charest, Director of Hospice and Palliative Care Program and his wonderful staff at Mercy Hospital for enabling Tony to spend his final days in total comfort. Relatives and friends may gather with Tony’s family during calling hours from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday (March 22, 2011) at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral Services for Tony will be held on Wednesday (March 23, 2011) at 11:00 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter 264 Cottage St. Springfield, MA 01104.
