Valerie S. Zimkiewicz, 101, entered into eternal peace on Thursday Feb. 17, 2011 at Evergreen Healthcare Center, Stafford Springs, CT. Born and educated in the Thompsonville Section of Enfield, daughter of the late Frank Samborski and Antonia (Gonet) Samborska. Upon her marriage to the love of her life, Louis J. Zimkiewicz, Valerie raised her children and resided in Suffield, CT for 79 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis and loving son, Louis G. Zimkiewicz of Manchester, CT., brothers, Max and Thadeus Samborski, sisters, Helen Albrecht and Nellie Basnikiewcicz. Valerie is survived by her loving daughter, Constance D. Sullivan of Longmeadow, MA, sisters, Wanda Rembiesa and Jean Bugden both of Enfield, CT, daughter-in-law, Patricia Zimkiewicz of Manchester, CT. She also leaves fond memories to be cherished by her grandchildren, Ronald J. Sullivan and wife Cynthia, Gary Sullivan and wife Christine, Kelly Sullivan and wife Joanne, Sean Sullivan, Mark Zimkiewicz and wife Carrie, Lynn Latimer, Lisa Riendeau and husband Brian, also 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, many nieces and nephews and a very special and devoted nephew Frank Basnikiewicz. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Valerie was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam, MA. She was a woman of great faith and her family and friends were her life. Her family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the caregivers and staff at Evergreen Healthcare Center who gave such generous devotion and compassion to make her last years so comfortable, also to the dedicated physicians and nurses at Johnson Memorial Medical Center. Calling hours will be on Sunday (Feb. 20, 2011) at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Feb. 21) with the procession forming at 9:30 am at the funeral home to St. Johns Evangelist Church in Agawam, MA for a 10:30 am Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by interment in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers her family has requested donations in Valerie’s memory be made to Evergreen Healthcare Center Recreation Dept. 205 Chestnut Hill Rd. Stafford Springs, CT 06076 or St. John the Evangelist Church 823 Main Street Agawam, MA 01001-2527
