Victor Banis Obituary

Victor T. Banis, 83 of Enfield, beloved husband for 59 years of Helen (Pierog) Banis, entered into eternal rest Monday November 14, 2005 surrounded by his family. Born December 21, 1921 the son of the late William and Apollonia Banis, Victor was a life long resident of Enfield. He was a graduate of Enfield High School and attended Hillard College. A combat veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Marines from 1942 to 1945, participating in many of the major campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including the Solomons, Rabul, Saipan, Tinian and Guam, aboard the USS Montpelier. Prior to his retirement in 1983, Victor was employed for 42 years with Hamilton Standard. He was a communicant of St. Martha's Church and a member of the American Legion John Maciolek Post 154. He was also a member of the Hamilton Standard Retiree's Club, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Enfield Historical Society. Victor enjoyed time spent with his family, antique cars, golf and playing the accordion.

Besides his wife Helen, he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and William Silvestri of South Glastonbury, and Karen and Henry Conkey III of Rocky Hill, his grandchildren Kristen Silvestri, Katlyn Conkey and Henry Conkey IV. Victor was predeceased by his brother Vincent Banis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday November 16, 2005 at 11 am in St. Martha's Church. Calling hours will be Wednesday prior to Mass from 9 to 10:30 am at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family with military honors. Memorial Donations in Victor's memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc. 2250 US Highway 1 N. Brunswick, NJ 08902-4301.
