Virginia Glende

Virginia (Ferguson) Glende, of Enfield, has passed from her earthly journey to eternal life at the age of 79 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side on Monday (April 4, 2011). She was the beloved wife of Leon E. Glende and daughter of the late Edward and Josephine (Rogowski) Ferguson. Virginia was born on May 29, 1931 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Springfield and went on to receive her RN Degree from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing where she was employed for several years. A parishioner of St. Patrick Church she was very active on many committees and with numerous church functions. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially the grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities. Besides her beloved husband, Lee of 52 years Virginia is survived by her loving children; Edward Glende and his wife Judy of Tennessee, Leah Glende and her husband Kenneth Bobinski of Farmington, Kara Albert and her husband Charles of Enfield and Kurt Glende of Manchester, her two beloved grandsons Nicholas Glende and Ryan Albert, several cousins, her lifelong friend Mary Masciadrelli of Westfield, MA along with many other cherished friends. She was predeceased by a brother Edward T. Ferguson, Jr. Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday (April 7, 2011) from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 8, 2011) with the procession forming at 9:00 am at the funeral home to St. Patrick Church for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to JDRF 20 Batterson Park Rd # 302, Farmington, CT 06032 or to St. Patrick Church 64 Pearl St. Enfield, CT 06082. “Life is but a journey. I have been richly blessed. Thank you, dear Lord. I have lived, I have loved and I have been loved.”
