W. Elaine Viera Obituary

W. Elaine Viera, of Somers, passed from her earthly life at the age of 76, when the angels came to escort her to eternal life in Heaven, on Friday (Aug. 19, 2011) at Johnson Memorial Medical Ctr., Stafford. Elaine was the beloved wife of 56 years to Leonard Viera her high school sweetheart. She was born on May 27, 1935 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Ellen (Carpenter) Cobb. She resided in Enfield and Somers for over 40 years. During her 45 years as a Registered Nurse Elaine was employed with St. Luke’s Hospital, Mount View and retired from Kimberly Hall in Windsor. A loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother her life revolved around her family. She enjoyed feeding the birds and collecting Teddy Bears. Elaine always remembered everyone’s special days with cards selected from her heart. Elaine is survived by her husband Leonard whom she loved dearly, her three loving children Michael Viera of SC, Steven Viera and daughter-in-law Julie of Tolland and Kelly Yiznitsky of Enfield, her beloved six grandchildren Christopher & Melissa Viera, Steven & Mary Viera and Sarah & Jake Yiznitsky who all brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her in-laws, John Viera and wife Rita of TX, Patricia Jenney of TX and Dorothy Demello and husband Bill of MA along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her mother she was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law John & Mary Viera and her son-in-law Michael Yiznitsky. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass in celebration of Elaine’s life will be held on Friday (Aug. 26, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-3704. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd.
