Adeline Hagenow

Adeline M. (Laneri) Hagenow, 97, of Colonial Beach, VA, and longtime resident of Glastonbury and Manchester, passed away peacefully Monday, November 10, 2014 at Westmoreland Health & Rehab Center. Adeline was born Dec. 29, 1916 and raised in Glastonbury, the daughter of the late George A. and Catherine (Capucciati) Laneri. She attended local schools, graduating from Glastonbury High School, Class of 1936. Adeline was a very warm, loving, and caring person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. All were welcome and greeted in her home with a smile, laugh, and a table full of food, as well as a very positive attitude. Adeline and her entire family spent lots of time at “The Family Cabin” in South Glastonbury, which was a very special place where everyone enjoyed many, many gatherings. She lived in Glastonbury for 25 years, and then moved to Manchester, where she resided for 67 years, then the last 5 years in Virginia. As a result of her big heart and generous ways, Adeline was a caregiver for many people during her life time. Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary at Pratt & Whitney for 33 years. Adeline will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving children; Dennis T. Hagenow and his wife Patricia, of Colonial Beach, VA, Donald A. Hagenow and his wife Ellen of West Stafford, CT ; adored grandchildren, Wendy and Shawn Utterback of Austin, TX, Jody Hagenow of Coventry, Christopher and Kimberly Hagenow of Vernon, Jason Hagenow of Manchester and Kimberly, Katie and Lindsay Holmes of Middletown; her four cherished great grandchildren, Derek Hagenow of Willington, Sarah and Joshua Hagenow of Vernon, Sophia Utterback of Austin, TX; in addition to two sisters-in-law, Helen Laneri of Glastonbury, Betty Laneri of St. Petersburg, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her dear friend Henry Bednarz. In addition to her parents, Adeline was predeceased by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and James Detoro, Gina and George Clarke, three brothers and a sister-in-law, George and Raymond Laneri, Alfred and Charmaine Laneri. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the family Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 9:30-10:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Ave., Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Augustine Cemetery, Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301 or Smilow Cancer Hospital, 20 York St., New Haven, Ct. 06510.
