Frank Robacker Glastonbury, Connecticut Obituary

Frank Robacker

Frank Curtis Robacker, 81, joined his loved ones in Heaven on April 15, 2016. Frank served in the armed forces prior to becoming a funeral director, owning and operating Lowe-Robacker Funeral Home, located in Glastonbury, for many years. Whether you called him Frank, Bud, Buddy, Uncle Bud, Poppy, Grandpa, Grampa or Dad - it is certain that he made you laugh and he made you feel special. He had a BIG heart and a great sense of humor, never short on funny stories from his childhood that would leave you with a side ache and tears of laughter. Generous and compassionate, Frank always wanted to share what he had with others, and was happy to lend a helping hand. Frank was an optimist, with his favorite saying, "It could be worse!" he faced life's blessings and challenges with a positive attitude. Even when he moved to a nursing home, he looked around his room and exclaimed, "Man, what more could I ask for?!" His love of music, animals, seafood, and the outdoors lives on in all who knew him. He was a talented saxophonist and jazz enthusiast. He introduced music to his children and many became talented musicians, as did his grandchildren. Because of his love of the ocean, he moved to Cape Cod in 1982 where he enjoyed supplying local restaurants with fresh mussels, oysters, clams and striped bass. It was evident that Frank adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If babysitting, it would not be uncommon for the parents to return home to find that he had taken the tots out of their beds to play with them and seize the opportunity for a photo shoot! He demonstrated his love of children by coaching Little League baseball, even recently retelling funny stories about the boys and their youthful attempts at baseball. We wish to thank Frank's dear friend and nephew, John Livingstone, who afforded him the opportunity to continue boating during his last years and who provided him with a meaningful connection to his birth family. Lastly, we would like to thank his lifelong friend, John W. Walker. Frank always said, "Johnny was the brother I always wanted!" Thank you for sticking by him through thick and thin. You truly are his brother! Frank was predeceased by his parents, Frank H. Robacker and Doris E. Curtis Robacker, two sisters, Joan Benson and Judith Jordan, as well as his wife, Gerri Hortense Girardin Robacker and their infant twin boys, Peter & Paul. He will continue to live on in the memory of his children and their families: Anne Marie Robacker Sewall, husband Brad and five children; Frank D. Robacker, wife Cathy and three children; Paul M. Robacker, wife Kristin and nine children; Jeanne V. Robacker Amato, husband Ron and three children; James C. Robacker; Jacqueline Ramsey, husband Bruce and three children; and Catherine Mary & husband Bill. He leaves 23 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and two more on the way, many nieces, nephews, sisters in-law, brothers in-law, and many friends both in CT and Cape Cod, especially his companion, Rita McGraw. There will be a celebration of Frank's life on Saturday, April 23, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Buckingham Congregational Church, 16 Cricket Lane, Glastonbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the rebuilding of Frank's home church which was destroyed tragically in a fire: Calvary Baptist Church, 25 Lincoln Road, P.O. Box 984, Hyannis, MA 02601.
