Guido Anthony Silvestro

Guido Anthony Silvestro, 88, of Glastonbury, devoted husband of Dolores (Fierravanti) Silvestro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 15, 2015 in St. Francis Hospital. Born November 2, 1927 and raised in Hartford, son of the late Pelino and Agata, he lived most of his adult life in Glastonbury. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the 1st Infantry Division and was a guard at the Nuremberg Trials. After returning home from the war, he became a Firefighter for the City of Hartford. Retiring after several years of service, Guido then went to work for the State of Connecticut, Department of Income Maintenance. Along with his wife Dolores, he leaves his two sons, Anthony Silvestro and his wife Ann of Vernon and Stephen Silvestro of Glastonbury, his three grandchildren, Stephen and his wife Jessica, Dan and Shannon, as well as his two great grandchildren Aiden and Jackson.Guido also leaves his sisters in law, Jeanne Sylvestro, Vera Silvestri, Teresa Fierravanti, Ann Bisi and Julie Fierravanti. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers Emidio and Cesidio “Joe” and his sister Lucy. The Silvestro Family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Feller for the compassionate care give to Guido. Friends and relatives may call on the family Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Guido’s life will be held Thursday, November 19th at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury.
