Marilyn “Jean” (Dunn) Carey, 83, wife of Charles E. Carey, of East Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Sunday May 28, 2017. She was born in Westchester, NY on July 12, 1933, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Francis) Dunn. She married the love of her life for the past 66 years, Charles E. “Bud” Carey on April 28, 1951. Prior to her retirement, Jean worked for 21 years in the US Postal Service. After spending the first 10 years at the Hartford Post Office, she transferred to the East Glastonbury Post Office. Upon the death of the former Postmaster, Jean was appointed Postmaster on September 17, 1983. She was an avid reader, gardener and loved to cook. Besides her husband, Jean is survived by her three children, Lynda Sangiovanni and her husband Craig, C. Kevin Carey and his wife Elizabeth and Lori Moseley and her husband Thomas. She also leaves her grandchildren, Michelle Sangiovanni, Eric Carey, Jonathan Carey and two great-grandchildren, Jase and Ciarah. There will be no calling hours and services will be private.
