Ted is survived by his wife Elaine of 50 years and three children: Carol (Gary) Neumeister of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Susan Niehay of Rocky Hill, CT, and son Joe (Rose) Niehay of Simsbury, CT. Ted is also survived by two grandsons, Dylan Niehay and Bode Neumeister, a brother Zigmund Niehay of Fort Worth, TX, two cousins Stanley Tabara of Rocky Hill, CT and Adolf Kasper of Phoenix, AZ and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Helen (Janucik) Niehay, brother Edwin Niehay of Wyoming and sister Laura Brow of Massachusetts.
Ted was born September 1, 1939 in East Hartford, CT. Ted grew up in Glastonbury, CT and graduated from Glastonbury High in 1957. After working for several years for the Hartford Electric Light Company, Ted became the proud owner of Niehay’s Chevron Service which he operated for over 20 years. Ted also served in the Air National Guard. He passionately served as an independent member of the Glastonbury town council and for many years was a DJ along with Johnny Prytko hosting a weekly Polka Radio Show on WWUH. Ted was also a member of St. Paul Church in Glastonbury, the Knights of Columbus and the St. Pauls Men’s Club.
