Mary Schroeder

Mary (Meleky) Schroeder, 88, of Torrington died May 22, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of Alfred Schroeder. Mary was born June 1, 1923 in Mengusovce, Czechoslovakia, daughter of the late Andrew and Susan (Barger) Meleky. She came to the U.S. as a child and had been a resident of Torrington ever since. After high school she worked as a buyer for the the Mertz Department Store in Torrington, then worked at the Torrington Company and part-time at Sousy Shoe Store in Torrington and finally as an insurance researcher for Aetna Insurance until her retirement. Mary had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a nephew and his wife, Theodore A. and Robin Meleky of Atlanta , GA. Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 27, 2012, 4:00PM at the Nutting-Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Rd., Litchfield, CT, with The Rev. Mike Ambrose, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00PM until the time of service. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington will be private.
