Richard L. Clinton Obituary

Richard L. Clinton died peacefully on October 24, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born in 1939, predeceased by wife Olga Diaz Clinton and sister Clarise Clinton Doolittle, Richard is survived by his nephew Russell Doolittle (wife Gail), and their daughters Kathi Schapp, Krista Petry, and by his niece Randeane Tetu (husband John) and their daughter Emrys Tetu.

During his career in the United States Air Force (June 1958 – June 1984), Richard served in the United States, Guam, Greenland, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Italy, and Germany. Following honorable discharge in the rank of Master Sergeant, Richard and his wife Olga retired to the family home in Torrington.

Richard loved to drive. From the time he received his driver’s license, he drove his own cars, he drove the candy stripe bus for E. J. Kelley, he drove the family tractor, and most recently, he drove the rider lawn mower, turning hayfield into lawn. By himself, and later with his wife Olga, he drove in every state in the United States and in parts of Canada.

The family appreciates the care and safety Richard provided for his sister Clarise at home, following her recovery and convalescence from health challenges in the past two years.
