Assunta Adkins

Assunta (Susan) Adkins, 79, wife of the late Virgil Adkins, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Regency House in Wallingford after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on August 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Cosino Carabetta and Josephine DeMaria. She had resided in Meriden and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Meriden High School, Central College and the University of Hartford. Mrs. Adkins was employed by the Meriden Board of Education as a special reading teacher, retiring at the age of sixty and had a wonderful life with family and friends. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She is survived by a son, Keith Adkins and his wife Angela of Ohio and a grandson, Kayden. The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Her family would like to thank the Regency House for the compassionate care they gave to her. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Attn: Jan Cowles, Constellation Health Services, 240 Indian River Rd, Orange, CT 06477 or to St. Jude Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
