Hector Ortiz Muñiz, 67, passed away on April 11, 2017. Born in Aguada, Puerto Rico on November 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Buena Ventura Muñiz and Ernesto Ortiz. He worked as a security guard for Aguada Security Service until retiring in 2010. He loved his family. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was his hobby. He loved gardening and planting fruits and vegetables. His favorite pastime was fishing and playing dominoes with his family and friends. He loved going to the beach; it made him feel at peace and relaxed. He is survived by his daughters, Danaliz Jorge and her husband, Bryan Dellinger and Madelin Ortiz and her husband, Angel Alers; his sons, Hector Ortiz and his wife, Ana Maria Ortiz and Alex Ortiz; his grandchildren, Marie Angelie Ortiz, Nashalie Ortiz, Natasha Ortiz, Paula Ortiz, Kevin A. Perez, Keilani Z. Perez and Seth A. Alers; his great-grandchildren, Genesis Carrero and Camila del Mar Rodriguez; his sisters, Aurea Irizarry, Herminia Ortiz, Erodita Ponce and her husband, Daniel Ponce, Margie Reyes and her husband, Hector Reyes, Jeanette Sterling and her husband, Joe Sterling; his brothers, Samuel Ortiz and his wife, Rosemary Ortiz, Carlos Ortiz and his wife, Sonia Ortiz, and Luis Ortiz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Cano Ortiz and Naldo Ortiz and his nephews, Santoni Ortiz and Luis Junior Ortiz. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, April 18th at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
