Lucius E. Anthony Jr., 85, best known as Lou or Tony, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017. He was the son of the late Lucius E. Anthony Sr., and the late Edna Anthony-Gay (Turner). Mr. Anthony resided in Meriden for over 30 years. He attended Meriden Public Schools. Mr. Anthony worked for over 30 years at New Departure Manufacturing/General Motors, Bristol, CT, retiring in 1991. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed his family and travel. He enjoyed special times in Aruba, Virginia, and S. Carolina. He liked dinning out. Tony enjoyed current events and following political news. He also enjoyed a fun local trip to the casino. He always loved the coast and dreamed of having a boat someday. Tony loved to walk and would often take a stroll from his home down to town in Meriden to pick up a newspaper. He enjoyed cooking in his retirement years and often prepared recipes obtained from the newspaper and TV shows. He leaves behind his dear companion Georgianna Rainey. He is survived by his former wife, Eva D. Nabors (Dolly), his two sons, Michael Powell and Howard E. Anthony (Tammie), two daughters, Sandra L. Wade and Robin C. Anthony, Grandchildren, Damien Wade, Sr. (Juanita), Theodore Wade Jr., Corey Wade, Samara Wade Nelson (Craig), Candice Wade, and Kayla Anthony and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Zara Wynter and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Valerie Leal, and son-in-law Theodore Wade Sr, sister, Constance Douglas, and brothers, Sonny and Freddie Anthony. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Elaine Williams officiating at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
