Marcel Poirier Obituary

Marcel J. Poirier, 88, husband of Helen Tanguay Poirier, died on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus after a brief illness. Born in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada on December 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Florian and Vitaline Poirier. Mr. Poirier was employed by the Napier Company, retiring in 1990 with 38 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed the outdoors, loved bowling and was an animal lover. Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his daughter, Arlene Trella and her husband Steven; four sons, Claude Poirier and his wife, PeiPei, Dennis Poirier, Mark Poirier and Peter Poirier and his wife, Camie Niland-Poirier; ten grandchildren, Celia, Mathieu, Peter, Luc, Jeffrey, Kevin, Xinya, Michelle, Jill and Lisa; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Joseph and Eva; and his sister, Alice Bisson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Joshua, his sister Suzanne and his brother Lucien. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Laurent Church, 121 Camp St, Meriden, CT, 06450. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. There are no calling hours.
