Shirley (Smietana) Podgorski, wife of the late Adam Podgorski, Sr., passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Podgorski worked for SNET for 42 years until her retirement. She belonged to the Pioneers. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and writing poetry. She leaves a son Adam Podgorski and his wife Ruth-Ann, three grandchildren; Adam (Midori) Podgorski III, Aaron Podgorski and Renée (Podgorski) Shotwell and a sister Lorraine Horton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. Family and friends may call at the John J. Ferry &Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden on Sunday, July 16th from 1 to 4 p.m. Shirley’s family would like to give a special thank you to the Franciscan Hospice Team for the comfort and care given to Shirley and her family.
