Stasia V. Gwara, 88, wife of the late Edward S. Gwara, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Wadsworth Glen Health Care. Born in Meriden, on March 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Bronislaus and Waleria (Malinowski) Lewandowski. Mrs. Gwara had resided in Meriden, moving to Middletown in 1985. She attended local schools in Meriden. Stasia was employed by the Masonicare as a nursing assistant for 16 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wallingford. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Gwara of Middletown, a son, Paul Gwara and his wife Valerie of Meriden, five grandchildren, Tina Spakowski and her husband Wayne of Higganum, Tammy Savage of Illinois, Edward Savage of Middletown, Sean Gwara and Jeffrey Gwara both of Meriden, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Gwara, three brothers, Frank, Benjamin and Zigmunt Lewandowski and two sisters, Mary Palmer and Helen Zytowski. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 941 Old Rock Hill Rd, Wallingford. Everyone is asked to gather directly at the church. Burial will be at the First United Methodist Church Memorial Garden. The John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 941 Old Rock Hill Rd, Wallingford, CT 06492.
