Thomas Berndt, 59, of Meriden, died unexpectedly on June 11, 2016 at his home. Mr. Berndt was born in Meriden on November 21, 1956 in Meriden, CT to Ronald and Barbara (Lohmann) Berndt. He attended Platt High School. Mr. Berndt worked for his family’s business, North End Auto Parts of Meriden. Mr. Berndt was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed auto racing, having raced Modified Stock Cars at the Plainville Speedway in his youth. He is survived by his son, Nicholas Berndt of Meriden; his father and mother, Ronald and Barbara Berndt of Meriden; his brother, Timothy Berndt of Meriden; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces and friends. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Hollygail (Angiletta) Berndt; and sister-in-law, Robin Berndt. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden. Burial will be private.
