Albert Ross Obituary

Albert P. Ross, age 82, died on July 31st. He was born August 28, 1934 in Putnam, Connecticut to the late Reverend Clifton and Marie Ross. He was a lifelong resident of Connecticut. Al was studying at UConn to become a minister when he married Virginia (“Lee”) in 1955. His studies were interrupted when his wife gave him 3 children in 2 ½ years. He went to work for Page Motors and later owned Ross Copy & Print – a family business. Al joined Milford Rotary in 1966; this began his “Service Above Self” life. He was a past president (1973), past district governor of Rotary 7980 (1991-92) and in 2016 he was honored for his 50 years of service. Besides Rotary and his family, Al had a passion for antique cars, boating, long drives, red wine and an occasional cigar or pipe; and we can’t forget the CC Manhattan straight up with a dash of bitters. Al was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Lee; his 3 children, Bill, Lin (Greg Deemy), Ray; 6 grandchildren, Ray (Krista), Greg (Renee) and Matt (Melissa); and 5 great grandchildren, Samantha, Callie, Tyler, Riley and Giuliana; and a brother, Don. He is preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor. Visiting hours are from 9 am to 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am on Thursday, August 3rd at Smith Funeral Home, 135 North Broad Street, Milford, Connecticut. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Al’s life. Burial will follow at King's Highway Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Milford Rotary.
