Anita Marie Hopkins age 105, a lifelong Milford resident passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008, in West River Health Care. Mrs. Hopkins was born on August 24 1902, in Litchfield, CT, to the late Jacob and Lucy Gromann Hexamer. Beloved wife of the late William F. Hopkins, she was a homemaker and charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Co. 6, Point Beach Association, and former Indian River Grange. Survivors include a son Fred J. Hopkins and his wife Florence of Milford, two grandchildren Frederick J. Hopkins and his wife Patti, Julieanne Hopkins and fiancé Gary Gianotti all of Milford, two great grandchildren Christopher Michael Hopkins and his wife Rachel both currently serving in the United States Air Force and Nicole Hopkins of Milford. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews including Lucille Good of Torrington. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters Eleanor Brundge and Hilda Wilder. The entire Hopkins family would like to express appreciation for the care given by West River Health Care and Dr. Thelma Batiancila. Funeral Service will be held Monday July 21, 2008 at 10:30 am in the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., “On the Green” Milford. Interment will follow in Kings Highway cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning prior to the service from 9:00 am.
