Arthur F. Hoyt, Jr, age 93, of Milford passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 in Connecticut Hospice. He was born on March 26, 1923 in Stratford to the late Arthur and Alice Lavery Hoyt, Sr. Arthur proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Before retiring, he was employed by Yale University as a plumber. An active citizen of the community, he was one of the founding members of the VFW in Stratford, an involved member of the Plymouth Men’s Club, part of the Historical Society in Milford and a long time parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. He was also a lifelong fan of the Yankees and Giants. Arthur will be remembered for his devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, of 66 years, Evelyn Kilroy Hoyt, devoted children Meredith Stowe and her husband Arthur, Kenneth Hoyt and his wife Christine all of Milford and Deborah McGraw and her husband William of Hamden, grandchildren Robert and Geoffrey Stowe, Megan and Kelly Hoyt and Michael McGraw, great grandchildren Thomas, Caroline, Mary, Murphy and Kylie along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his grandson Alex McGraw. Calling hours are Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 17th at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Gulf St., Milford. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
