Bridget “Bridie” Ryan Howarth, age 77, of Milford, passed away peacefully in Milford Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2012. She was born on January 27, 1935 in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, Ireland to the late John and Frances Owens Ryan. Before retiring, she was employed as a clerk for Milford Auto Supply. A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, she was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and of becoming a US Citizen. A devoted catholic, she was an auxillary member of the Legion of Mary. She will be remembered for her love of animals. Mrs. Howarth is survived by her loving husband Daniel C. Howarth, children Daniel R. Howarth and his wife Lisa of Berlin, VT, Mary Kate Howarth of Milford and Kieran L. Howarth and his wife Susan and her daughter Chelsea of Milford, brother Christopher Ryan of Castlecomer, County Kilkenny, Ireland, granddaughters Chloe Marie and Stella Catherine and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 4 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford at 10:30am on Thursday, May 3rd. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Milford Animal Shelter, 664 Broadway, Milford, CT 06460 or Rhythm of the Rein, P.O. Box 67 Marshfield, VT 05658, a place for physical therapy for individuals with disabilities through the physical and emotional interaction with horses.
