Dorothea M. Chetley Merrill, age 96, passed away in her home on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Orlando M. Merrill. She was born on February 21, 1914 in Richmond, Maine to the late Harry W. and Eldora Oliver Chetley, Sr. A devoted and loving wife and mother, she is survived by her son Lawrence Merrill, Sr. of Old Lyme, daughter Beverly Jorgensen of Milford and grandchildren Judith Finn, Dr. Keith Jorgensen, Kevin Jorgensen and Lawrence Merrill, Jr., 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Harry Chetley Jr. and Kenneth Chetley. Calling hours are Thursday, April 15, 2010 at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford from 4 to 8pm. A prayer service will be held during calling hours. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Boys and Girls Village, 528 Wheelers Farms Rd., Milford, CT 06461.
