Dorothy Zender Beliveau of Milford, CT and Fort Lauderdale, FL, in her 90th year of life died May 27, 2013. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on November 15, 1923, daughter of the late Anna Zender Mitchell and Austin R. Zender, former CEO of Peter Paul/Cadbury Schwepps and President of Bridgeport Brass Company and the National Distillers and Chemical Corporation. She resided in Milford for over 65 years, was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Syosset, NY and attended Adelphi University Garden City, NY. Dorothy was married 54 years to the late Jean Paul Beliveau, former Vice President and Plant Manager of the Bridgeport Brass Company. Dorothy was a volunteer Red Cross Ambulance driver during World War II in NY. She was an active member at St. Mary’s Church in Milford that included participation and membership in; the Lady’s Guild, CCD Teacher, a Eucharist Minister to the Sick, Parish Council, and Finance Committee. She was also active and a member of the Mother’s Club of Notre Dame West Haven, CT, the Milford Historical Society, the Legion of Mary, and the Milford Hospital Auxiliary Board. She was also a devoted auxiliary volunteer for over 48 years for the Milford Hospital and American Red Cross with over 38,000 hours of service. In addition, she was a member of the Milford Senior Center and a volunteer for the Armed Forces Emergency Services for the American Red Cross – Milford Chapter. She was a board member of the Panama Club, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and also served as an incorporator for the Milford Hospital Foundation. She was surrounded by her loving children at the time of her death and is survived by them and their spouses; Paul and Gail Beliveau of Lakewood Ranch, FL - Margaret Anne and John Muchnicki of Greenwich, CT - Suzanne M. Beliveau of Milford, CT and John Austin Beliveau and Marjorie Smith of Mooresville, NC. She was the grandmother of six grandchildren and their spouses; Matthew and Kristina Beliveau of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew and Tina Beliveau of Baltimore, MD, Mary Beliveau of Baltimore, MD, Austin and Jack Beliveau of Mooresville, NC and the late John Muchnicki, Jr of Greenwich, CT. She also has two great grandchildren: Kate and Julia Beliveau of Minneapolis, MN. In her last days she was very thankful for the loving care she received from her caregivers; Andrea, Brittany, Jontoya, Marie and Jessica. During her precious last few years of life, she had extraordinary friendship and compassion from Jeanne Campagna, Janet Montalbano and the Sekas Family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday June 1st at 10:30am DIRECTLY in St. Mary’s Church Milford. Friends may call Friday, May 31st from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home 135 N. Broad St. Milford. Entombment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery family Mausoleum.
