Dorothy Smith Harlow, age 92, of Stratford, passed away May 8, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Born April 7, 1922, in Derby, she was the daughter of late Henry J. and Mary C. (Persico) Smith. She was a graduate of Skidmore College and resided in Milford for over 35 years. Active in volunteering, she was the Parent Faculty President of the Unquowa School, Residential Chairperson for the United Fund Drive, President of the Milford Garden Club, President of the Milford Hospital Auxiliary, where she helped found the Thrift Shop Penny Pincher, she was also the Auxiliary Vice-Chairperson of the Connecticut Hospital Association, on the Board of the Milford Visiting Nurse Association and on the Board for the Milford Mental Health Clinic. In 1988, she moved to Stratford and wintered in Scottsdale, AZ. Dorothy is survived by her children; Patricia Harlow (Alan Sussman) of Greenwich, William S. (Rhonda) Harlow of Miami, FL, Mary (John) Gulland of the Isle of Man, England and Barbara (Jerry) Logan of College City, PA, her brothers, Robert (Phyllis) Smith and Henry (Lois) Smith, all of Milford. She was also blessed with 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as many good friends. Mrs. Harlow was predeceased by her husband Atty. William Daly Harlow, her sister Betty Ahrens and brother-in-law Reverend James D. Harlow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane in Stratford. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford.
