Emiliya Mirkina, age 83 of Stamford, wife of the late Benjamin Gelfand, died January 18, 2010 in Lord Chamberlain in Stratford. She was born in Belarus on December 5, 1926, daughter of the late Mark and Haya Chernin Mirkina. Mrs. Mirkina was a History Teacher for the Public School system many years until her retirement. Survivors include two sons Mikhail Gelfand of Milford and Vladimir Gelfand of Israel. Calling hours will be held at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home Wednesday January 20, 2010 from 10:00 am to 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery.
