Francis B. Ambriscoe, age 89, resident of Orange, passed away in Milford Hospital on December 19, 2013. He was born on July 28, 1924 to the late Andrew J. and Julia Lazoric Ambriscoe. He graduated from Milford High School, Bullard-Haven Technical School and the Knights of Columbus Correspondence School. He retired as a self-employed heating, cooling and plumbing engineer/contractor. Previously, he had been employed for 13 years with the State of Connecticut as a crew leader, a partner of A & B Fuel Service and foreman for Ambriscoe Ice Plant in Milford. An active member of the community, he was a parishioner of Holy Infant Church in Orange, associate member of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department and 3rd degree honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Tinto Council #47. Mr. Ambriscoe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Suzanne Sapitowicz Ambriscoe, who he married on January 3, 1948 in St. Mary’s Church in Milford. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, god-children and brother-in-laws Chester Ignatowski and Anthony Olenski. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers John J. and Michael J. Barnick, John A., Stephen A., Andrew A., George A. Sr., and Albert A. Ambriscoe along with sisters Mrs. Marian F. Brennan, Mrs. Evelyn Riordan, Mrs. Margaret A. Pilkowicz, Mrs. Ann M. Barnick, Mary B. Ambriscoe and Mrs. Julia Domkowski. He enjoyed his many vacations with his wife to forty three states including the island of Hawaii and his fall visits to Ontario and Quebec, Canada. Calling hours are Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4 to 7pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 28 at 10:00 am in Holy Infant Church, Race Brook Rd., Orange. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery Milford.
