Frederick Howard Hovey III, age 82, of Orange, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband for 51 years of Elizabeth Allen Hovey. Frederick was born on January 4, 1928 in Newton, MA to the late Frederick Howard Hovey Jr. and Helen Wright Hovey. He proudly served his country in the US Navy in Korea. A graduate of Hobart William Smith Colleges, he retired as the Vice-President of Sales for Lewis-Boyle Inc. Mr. Hovey was twice Commodore of Milford Yacht Club and was the Founder of the MYC Sailing Foundation. He was also a member of the Housatonic Model Boat Club. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his devoted children Jennifer (John) Densmore of Wardsboro, VT., Stephanie “Stevie” Hovey of West Dover, VT., and Theodore “Bear” Hovey and his fiancé Sara Engleheart of Branford, a brother David Hovey of Chatham, MA., step sisters Nancy Temple of St.James, FL. and Henriette Binswanger of Rockport, ME., three grandchildren Charlie, Sally & Emma Densmore and a grandchild on the way. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews. A Memorial service will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 am directly in the Milford Yacht Club.
