George E. Caswell Jr., 97, formerly of Milford, beloved husband of the late Dolphyce Tebbetts Caswell, passed on May 7, 2011at Wesley Heights, Shelton. He was born on July 15, 1913 in New Bedford, MA. Son of the late George E. Sr. and Beatrice Whitney Caswell. George was a graduate of Brown University class of 1936 and prior to his retirement he was employed for 41 years in sales and managerial positions with Burroughs Corporation, which merged in 1986 into Unisys. During WWII he was a cadet of the 1st U.S. Coast Guard Reserve officer class; graduating in June 1942, and served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Atlantic, Greenland and European theaters on sea duty and other military assignments. George was a 50 year member of the First United Church Congregational of Milford where he served on the Board of Trustees and Diaconate. He was a former member of the Plymouth Mens club. He is survived by a son, John Caswell; a daughter, Candace Caswell; a nephew Charles Eastman of MA, a daughter in law, Wendy Caswell; and a loving granddaughter, Valerie Caswell. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 24, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
