Harold Banks Obituary

Harold D. Banks, 74 of Eastham, MA and Brooksville, FL, formerly a longtime resident of Milford, CT, passed away December 14, 2009 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 14, 1935 in Providence, RI to the late Ethel Brennan. He was a proud veteran of the Air Force. In Harold’s 20 year military career, he served in the Korean War and three tours in Vietnam. Harold then worked as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration for twenty years. Harold was very patriotic and received a Letter of Commendation from Secretary of State Colin Powell recognizing him for his 40 years of service to the United States of America. Harold was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and golf was his passion. He was an active member of the Oronoque Country Club in Stratford, CT for ten years.Harold was a wonderful husband and father. He is survived by his loving wife of forty one years, Cheryl Nickerson Banks, his daughter Heather Banks of Eastham, his daughter and caretaker Rebecca Banks of Milford, CT, his son Ty Duong Banks of California, his adopted son Jerry Hoey of Milford CT, his brother Steve Darbyshire of Greenville, IL, his sister Kathleen Maiorano of Oviedo, FL, and his niece Laura Yarbrough Tramontana of Brooksville, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Michelle, Julie, Nhan, Shannon and Connor of San Jose, CA. and brother in-law, Nathan Nickerson III of Eastham. The service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at the Brewster Baptist Church in Brewster, MA at 1 pm with full military honors.In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation to the VNA Hospice 434 Route 134 South Dennis, MA 02660.
