Helen Moore

Helen (Kolodey) Moore, 88, of Milford, departed this life on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Milford Hospital. Helen was born on July 10, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late John and Anna (Packanick) Koloday. Helen was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a nurse during World War II. She also worked as a nurse at the U.S. Naval Hospital. Helen later taught in the Stratford School System as a Nurse Health Educator for 25 years. She obtained two master degrees from the Yale University. In her spare time Helen loved to travel, and also tutored locally and served in the mentoring program. She was an active member of Milford Senior Center and was also a literacy volunteer. She touched many lives, and with that came many wonderful friendships. Helen will be sadly missed by her daughter, Constance Christy of WV, along with her sister, Rosella Pevey of MS. She also leaves one grandchild, and one great-grandchild, along with her large extended family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Moore. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, February 12th from 4 - 7 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 7 PM in the funeral home. Her niece, Rev. Marquerite K. Jhonson will be officiating. Interment will be private.
