Helen Popielarski

Helen Anna Popielarski, age 94, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Matthew Frank Popielarski, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015. She was born on November 28, 1920 in Paterson, NJ to the late Frank and Rose Petrykowska Zych. Her life was devoted to her family. Helen served the community as a volunteer for the American Red Cross since WWII. Also known as “Mrs. Little” by her students, Helen worked in the cafeteria at Simon Lake Elementary School for many years. She is survived by her dedicated children Matthew Popielarski and his wife Pam of Milford and Joanne Pitsch and her husband Charles of Stuart, FL, grandchildren Joanne Wochner and her husband Eric of Baton Rouge, LA and Charles Pitsch and his wife Tina of Shelton, great grandchildren Amanda Branch, Brian Wochner, Marissa and Melanie Pitsch and great great grandson Colin Branch, two sisters and one brother. Calling hours will be held from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, October 14th, at Smith Funeral Home, 135 N Broad St., Milford. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30pm during the calling hours. Interment will follow in King’s Highway Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to American Red Cross, Milford Chapter, 1 Plymouth Place, P.O. Box 390, Milford, CT 06460.
