J. Russell Curley

J.Russell Curley, 85, beloved husband of June (Stone) Curley, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2014 surrounded by his family. Resident of Derby, formerly of Milford, he was born in Providence, Rhode Island, March 14, 1928, the son of the late Owen and Mary (Malley) Curley. He graduated from Classical High School in Providence and later from Brown University and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer for Southern Connecticut Gas Co. for many years until his retirement. Mr. Curley served the Milford community as a Past President Rotarian and was honored with the Paul Harris Fellowship. He also served as a President of the United Way. Russell is survived by his wife, June, of fifty-eight years who he met while both worked for the Providence Gas Company in the 1950's. Russell also leaves two daughters, Lisa Lauder and her husband Tim of Oxford and Martha Curley and her husband Petri Kymlander of Kingston, RI as well as three grandchildren Morgan, Taylor and Ulla. He also leaves a sister Ann Pezzullo of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert Curley, Francis (Buddy) Curley and sister Patricia Villari. All services will be private. The Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St. Milford is in charge of arrangements. Donations in his memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., 2075 Silas Dean Highway, (CT Chapter) Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
