John Fike Obituary

John William Fike, Jr., age 89, of Milford, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012 in Milford Health Care Center. He was born on May 8, 1922 in Westport to the late John and Patrice Hanger Fike, Sr. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp during WWII taking part in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Before retiring, he was a machinist for the Connecticut Light & Power Co. An active member of the community, he was a member and past president of the American Legion Post #34, a member of Ansantawae Lodge # 89 AF & AM, and Pyramid Shrine Temple, an assistant Boy Scout Master, and a vestry and usher for St. Peter’s Church. Mr. Fike is survived by her devoted children Patrice Fike of Manhattan, John Fike III and his wife Linda of NC, Frederic Fike and Marjorie Allen and her husband George all of Milford, grandchildren George, Jr and Jon Allen, Rebecca Florio, Robin Williston, Joshua and Brian Fike, ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Eleanor Ruth Squires Fike and sisters Patrice Thomasson and Carmen Prochaska. Calling hours are Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 4 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A funeral service will be held DIRECTLY at St. Peter’s Church, at 10am on Monday, February 27th. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in his name to St. Peter’s Church, 71 River St., Milford, CT 06460.
