John James Fitzsimmons, Sr., age 77, of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Milford Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1931 in New York City to the late John J and Agnes Dalton Fitzsimmons. Before retiring, he was employed by Metro North as a conductor for 45 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an avid Giants and Dodgers fan. Mr. Fitzsimmons is survived by his devoted children John J. Fitzsimmons Jr. of Fairfield, Scott Fitzsimmons of Flushing, NY, Stephen Fitzsimmons of Milford and Sheila Carlquist of Sarasota, FL, brothers James Fitzsimmons and Terrance Fitzsimmons, sister Bridget Brady all of NY and grandchildren Ronald and Derrick Benedetto, John, Christina and Marisa Fitzsimmons, Ryan and Kurt Carlquist. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Mary O’Brien Fitzsimmons, daughter Christina Benedetto and brother Richard Fitzsimmons. Calling hours are TODAY, Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 4 to 8pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 12 at 9:30am in St. Mary’s Church, Gulf St., Milford. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
