John L. Marvell, long-time resident of Milford, passed away May 4, 2017 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was born February 20, 1944 in Bridgeport, son of the late John and Mabel Marvell. John was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport; BA in Finance and also an MBA. He served his country in the Coast Guard 1967-1971. John’s employment included Payne Webber, City Trust and was a Clerk for the Banks Committee of the State Legislature for 33 years. He also worked for the CT Parks Service in the Summer. John was a member of the Milford Yacht Club, the American Legion and the Milford Republican Town Committee. John’s hobbies included woodworking, sailing and gardening. He is survived by a number of cousins and relatives local and abroad. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A memorial service will be held at the Wildermere Beach Congregational Church on Tuesday May 16 at 2PM. His good friend, Rev. Ken Fellenbaum officiating.
