Joseph S. Campagna Sr., of Milford died peacefully in his home on May 14, 2008.
He was born in New Haven on April 27, 1916 son of the late Samuel and Lina Williams Campagna. Mr. Campagna served as a Sergeant in The United States Army for
Battery A., Harbor Defense of Long Island Sound during W.W.II. He had worked in the family business at the Central Fruit Market and for 30 years served as sexton of the Parish complex of Saint Mary’s Church. Mr. Campagna was an active 4th Degree Knight of Tinto Council # 47, Knights of Columbus for over 60 years, and was a member of the St. Mary Holy Name Society. He was predeceased by his fist wife Corinne DeCrosta Campagna and is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne Bellerose Campagna. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Joseph S. Campagna Jr. and Paul A. Campagna of Milford, four daughters Mary Lee O’Connor and her husband Vinnie of Kent, WA., Ann Marie Campagna of New Haven, Susan Kearnes and husband Daniel of New Castle, WA., and Joan Dalbon and husband Gordon of New Rochelle, NY., a brother Samuel A. Campagna and sisters Josephine Serini and Mary Ann Rainer all of Milford,
six grandchildren, one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday (Today), May 16, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am in St. Mary Church with interment to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
