Julius Pohlman Obituary

Julius August Pohlman, age 91, of Milford passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008 in Milford Hospital. He was born on March 9, 1917 in East Haven to the late Julius and Martha Reil Pohlman, He proudly served in the US Army during WWII, receiving the Good Conduct Metal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and Victory Medal. Before retiring, he was employed by AVCO. An active member of the community, he was a member of Conservation Corp. and helped build Chatfield Hollow State Park. Mr. Pohlman is survived by his devoted daughters Pamela Lynn Pohlman and Debra Toth both of Milford, brother Rudolph Pohlman of East Haven, twin sisters Doris McDermott of East Haven and Dorothy Turley of Meriden and grandchildren Derek Pohlman, Billy Toth, Victoria Toth and Katie Toth. Besides his parents, he is predeceased is wife Shirley McCluskey Pohlman, son Richard Pohlman, two brothers and two sisters. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Memorial Service will follow the calling hours at 7pm. Interment will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven with full military honors.
