Kenneth B. Ryan, age 81, of Oxford, CT, beloved husband to the late Leigh Ryan, passed away on April 27, 2016 after a long illness. Ken was born in Derby, CT to the late Joseph Ryan and Kathleen Murphy Ryan on October 31, 1934. The family moved to Milford where Ken attended Milford High School and continued his studies at University of Bridgeport. After serving with the U.S. Army in Germany for three years Ken worked for the Bridgeport Gas Co. and retired after 35 years. Ken was an avid gardener and loved studying foreign languages. He was also a devoted member of the Harugari German Club. Ken was predeceased by his wife Leigh Ryan and brother Kevin Ryan. He is survived by his sisters; Eileen Ryan of Long Beach, CA. and Kathleen Kaufman of Denver, CO., and brother Robert Ryan of Phoenix, AZ., as well as brother-in-law Philip Waisonovitz of Milford, CT. Ken also is survived by six nephews and one niece and close family friend Brenda Bioski. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, May 5th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in King’s Highway Cemetery, Milford.
