Lena Yeomans Obituary

Lena “Lee” Virginia Yeomans, age 93, of Swanton, VT and formerly of Stratford, passed away in her home on December 23, 2010. She was born on September 17, 1917 in South Burlington, VT to the late Frederick and Florence Swan DeGraff. Before retiring, she was employed as a machine operator for Remington Rand in Bridgeport and then moved onto running her own deli in Bridgeport. An active member of the community, she served as past commander for the DAV in Bridgeport, a member of VFW in Swanton, VT and the American Legion, Chapter 60 in Albany, VT. Her passions were cooking, baking and caring for all. She was a very healthy and energetic woman until the last year of her life. Her smile, hug and warmhearted way will truly be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Yeomans is survived by her loving husband Charles Yeomans, devoted daughter Patricia Verrelli of Milford, stepson Lanny Yeomans of Fergusan, NC, brother Carl DeGraff of Swanton, VT, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by daughters Gloria Merrill and Ruth Dusablon, 5 brothers and two grandchildren Rick Lucas and Jeffery Verrilli. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 10:00 am to 12:00pm with a prayer service at 12 Noon at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
