Lynne DelGrande

Lynne H. DelGrande, age 53 died peacefully Saturday, December 27, 2008 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Her loving husband and beloved son were at her side. Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, she grew up in Pittsfield and Stockbridge, MA. Lynne was the daughter of the late Sally Ann Davis and William E. Harris. Her loving family includes her beloved husband Jim and their beloved son Bryce of Milford, two sisters and their husbands, Karen and Mark Maugle of Groton, CT and Pamela and Sparky Miller of Los Angeles, two brothers and their wives, Paul and Susan Harris of Los Angeles and Mark and Lynn Harris of Pittsfield, MA, her Mother-in-law, Ann DelGrande of Wareham, MA, her sister-in-law and her husband, Laurie and Michael McDonnell of Marshfield, MA, five brother-in-laws and their wives, Tim and Kathy DelGrande of Newton, MA, Peter and Robin DelGrande of West Stockbridge, MA, David and Ann DelGrande of Lee, MA, and Michael and Margaret DelGrande and Joseph and Dana DelGrande, both of Housatonic, MA, her Uncle and Aunt, David and Coleen Harris of Wallingford, CT, a cousin, Elaine Gannon of Astoria Queens, NY, and twenty nieces and nephews as well as several cousins and an extended family of friends. Lynne worked for many years in the mental health profession in New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut before devoting her time to being a loving and full-time mother. During the course of her illness, she became an advocate for ovarian cancer awareness which her mother and an aunt also died of. The family would like to extend its grateful thanks for the support and love from friends and especially for the care, support and love and devotion from all the nurses and doctors at the Yale Physicians OBGYN Oncology Clinic, Yale New Haven Hospital’s 8th Floor Women’s Services Unit and The Connecticut Hospice. In the end, she lost her battle to cancer but won the hearts of the many people she touched with her humor, her love, her compassion, and her courage. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lynne’s name to Discovery To Cure, c/o The Office of Development, Yale Cancer Center, 157 Church Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
