Marion Merrihew

Marion (Gibson) Merrihew was a resident of Milford, CT since 2005. She was the wife of the late Brydon A. Merrihew to whom she was married for 64 years. Mrs. Merrihew was born in Chicago, IL and moved to New Rochelle, NY where she graduated from New Rochelle High School. She attended Northwestern University and the Washington School for Secretaries. Mrs. Merrihew lived most of her adult life in Rye, NY, where she raised her four children, before moving to Chatham, MA in 1981. She was a summer resident of Chatham since 1969. She was a life member of the Chatham Conservation Foundation, a member of the Cape Cod Natural History Museum, and the national Audubon Society. While she was a resident of Chatham, Mrs. Merrihew was a volunteer at the Eldridge Public Library. Mrs. Merrihew is survived by two daughters: Frances M. Menkin of Plymouth, ME and Susan E. Merrihew of Balboa Island, CA; two sons: Thomas B. Merrihew of Southbridge, MA and Brydon A. Merrihew Jr., with whom she resided in Milford, CT., seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving grandson Steven Merrihew. The arrangements are in the care of Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St. Milford, CT 06460. All services are to be private at the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Audubon Society at 2325 Burr St. Fairfield, CT 06824.
