Marvin D. Garnett, age 76 of Milford, passed March 20, 2014 in CT Hospice after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Bridgeport on February 2, 1938 to the late Russell and Helen Obert Garnett. Mr. Garnett worked as a photo engraver for Swan Engraving until his retirement. Marvin was an active member of the community and could usually be found riding his bicycle along Milford and West Haven beaches . He loved the outdoors. Marvin also participated in many activities including billiards at the Milford Senior Center, basketball for the Senior Recreation Dept., and pitched horseshoes at the West Haven Horseshoe League. He was fond of travel, good food, and had a great love for his friends and family. He leaves behind his five children William (Andrea) Garnett, Michael (Debra) Garnett, Bonnie (Christopher) Miconi all of Milford, Cheryl (Daniel ) Bradley of North Carolina, and Robert (Laurie) Bradley of East Haven, a brother Robert Garnett of TX., a sister Janice Garnett of Oxford, beloved grandchildren Kate, Ashley, James, Michael, Madeline, Ruby, Gabriel, Stephanie, Alyssa, Nicole, Matthew, Nicholas and Amanda. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother Richard. Marvin will be dearly missed by friends and family. Friends may call Saturday March 29, 2014 at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St. Milford from 12 Noon to 2:30 pm. A prayer service will begin at 2:30. Interment will be private. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
