Mary Louise Filanowski, age 80, a lifelong Milford resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Milford Hospital. She was born on December 12, 1933 to the late Peter and Mary Helen Capobianco Oliver. Before retiring, she was employed as a store manager for Secondi Brothers. Mrs. Filanowski is survived by her devoted children Joseph E. Filanowski, Sr. and his wife Linda of Milford, Robert W. Filanowski and his wife Christi of Hampden, ME, Michael P. Filanowski and his wife Sheri of Milford and MaryJo Beck and her husband Patrick of Derby, brothers Robert D. Oliver and his wife Barbara and Ernest A. Oliver and his wife Penny, sister Margaret Wendel and her husband Cal all of Milford, sister-in-law Dot Oliver of Reno, grandchildren Joseph, Jr., Carly, Steve, Leann, Logan and Jamie, great granddaughters Rylie, Reese and Rachel Filanowski and numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved pet Bear. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Filanowski, daughter Luann Filanowski, brother Peter Oliver, sister Patricia A. Campbell and grandson Austin Rak. Calling hours are Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2 to 5pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 6th at St. Mary Church, Gulf St., Milford at 10:30am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in her honor.
