Michael T. Patrick, 44 of Milford went home to the Lord on November 8, 2010 with his family by his side. Michael was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 23, 1965. He graduated from Masuk High School in 1983. Michael also graduated Gateway Community College with an Associates degree in computer science. He was employed as a landscaper with his uncle Chris with whom he was very close. Michael is survived by his father, Andrew G. Patrick and his wife Virginia Patrick; his mother Sheila Birney Oppel; sister, Sheila Patrick Norko, her children, Annielaurie, Joshua, and Brooke; brother, Andrew G. Patrick III, his wife Collean, their children Shauna, Christy, Dana and Andrew; brother, Douglas Patrick, his wife Sherri, their children Sadie, Olivia and Noah; and brother, Kent Oppel II. Michael was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Michael was a competitive cyclist for 31 years. This was his passion, from BMX to MTB/Road racing. Michael was a team member with Subaru/Gary Fisher 29erCrew Racing Team and EFTA. Michael was a friend of Bill W. and he loved his Stratford Brothers. He had a higher purpose in life beyond racing bikes. He shared a message of strength (physical and mental) and recovery. Michael loved life and was an incredible inspiration to all who knew him, always putting others before himself. Funeral home prayer service will be held Friday November 12, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home 135 Broad St. Milford. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will be held in Putney Cemetery Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Connecticut Challenge, Cycling for Cancer Survivors.
