Michael Shigalkowski

Michael A. Shigalkowski, 37, of Milford, passed away Tuesday March 11, 2014 in Connecticut Hospice in Branford, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved son of Ann-Marie Shigalkowski and the late Adam Shigalkowski. Born on October 23, 1976 in Queens , NY and moved to Milford at the age of 10. Michael graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven in 1995, spent a year at the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine. He then graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History from UNH. Michael will be greatly missed by his mother, brother Peter Shigalkowski, his many friends and all who knew him. He is predeceased by his father’s sister Anna Shigalkowski. He loved to travel, up and down the east coast of the United States, Las Vegas and skiing in Vermont and Wyoming and trips to Sweden and Russia. Michael was a self-described “Foodie”, enjoying many cuisines, especially Asian. Friends may call at Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St. in Milford, Friday March 14, 2014 from 5 – 8 pm. A Panachida Service at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass, Saturday at 9:00am directly in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Stratford. Burial will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery Milford. Donations may be made in Michael’s name to: CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford, CT 06405 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
