Mildred Bartalomy, died on Sunday, November 22, 2009 in Milford Hospital. Mildred passed away peacefully with her faithful caregiver Judy Smith and her Pastor and friends from Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church by her side. Born on December 16, 1919 to Karl August and Mary Bartalomy, Millie was a lifelong resident of Milford. She was also predeceased by her five sisters and brothers; Katherine Berkeley, Louise Brangaccio, Werner Bartalomy, Herman Bartalomy and Adelhied, who died as a child. She is survived by a number of nephews and nieces and their children. Millie was educated in Milford and after graduating from high school worked in town at Waterbury Lock and Specialty, retiring as a forelady after 42 years of dedicated service. She was a lover of animals, nature, flowers and all things outdoors. A gifted amateur writer, she contributed to the Walnut Beach memoir “Sand in Our Shoes”. She gave generously of her time and talents and for many years served as the Treasurer for the Mary Taylor Church fair held annually on the Milford Green. She was a long time contributor to the Christian Children’s Fund, sponsoring children all over the world. Millie touched many hearts over the course of her long life, giving friendship, kindness, caring and laughter. Calling hours will be at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford on Friday, November 27th from 3 to 7pm. Funeral services will be held directly at Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in Milford on Saturday, November 28th at 11AM with interment at Milford Cemetery immediately following. After the burial service, friends and family are invited to a memorial luncheon at the Mary Taylor Church Hall.
