Nancy Sylvester Obituary

Nancy Sylvester, 90, of Milford, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2016. She was born Annunziata D’Allesandro, on May 4, 1926. She moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1956, attending night school to learn English. She was very proud to pass the test to become an American citizen soon after. As a city girl, from Naples, Italy, she had to learn to cook when she became a young wife to William Sylvester and became well known for her classic meatball and spaghetti sauce recipe. It was the best in town. Nancy took pride in everything she did including her work as a sewing machine operator at Seaside Blouse and Warnaco, and as an assembler for Remington Rand and Dresser Industries in Stratford, CT where she retired in 1993. Nancy received many awards and accommodations throughout the years for her exemplary work. Nancy is survived by her children, Linda (Chris) Campanelli, and Carl (Mary) Sylvester; her grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Buturla, Rob (Chelsey) Carbone, and Christopher Campanelli; and her great-grandchildren, Justin and Evie Buturla and Bobby Carbone, III. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. Friends and family may call on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N.
